Welcome to FootballEsVida.com! I’m Rio Widjaja and I created this blog because soccer has always been a huge part of my life — from playing on a competitive high school team to working as a referee. For me, the sport is more than just a game; it’s a source of discipline, joy, and connection.
The name comes from a phrase that perfectly captures that spirit: “Football is life.” Fans of the show Ted Lasso may remember the Mexican football star who embodied that exuberant, positive attitude toward both the game and life itself. I chose to say it in Spanish — fútbol es vida — because studying Spanish in high school gave me a deep appreciation for the language, culture, and people.
Here, I share stories, reflections, and insights about the game I love, while also exploring how sports can strengthen both mental and physical health. Soccer has taught me resilience, teamwork, and perspective — lessons I carry off the field, too.
I live in Katy, TX and goes to Tompkins High and aspire to be a healthcare professional with a passion for leadership, service, and personal growth. Through my involvement in the National Honor Society and Health Occupations Students of America, I’ve developed an appreciation for community service, teamwork, and the importance of making a positive impact. Outside of academics and healthcare related activities, I enjoy writing and reflecting on medical topics.. This blog is my space to share experiences, insights, and research along the journey
